Phase One Complete!
Phase One of our Great Loop Adventure is complete. The goal was to simply travel from our home port on the west coast of Florida to a corresponding marina on the east coast of Florida. Our plan was to see how it went and make a decision on how to proceed once we completed this portion of the trip.
I can say that phase one was a big success. We both really enjoyed the trip and we learned a lot, not only about the boat, but also about our abilities and limits.
We did well getting early starts each travel day. The water is smooth and there is less boat traffic to contend with. It made our arrival times early in the day and gave time in the afternoon and evening to do things.
We enjoyed the extra day that we spent at Legacy Harbour Marina. This was welcome rest after several consecutive days of travel.
We found that there is a wide range of marinas, and that we are pretty flexible.
So in Summary, we started in Palmetto, Florida and ended in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. We traveled 343 miles and put 50 hours on the engine. We spent nights at eight different marinas, ate at nine unique restaurants, and survived four locks.
Whe have decided to continue to Phase Two!

How fun! My husband and I were boat shopping yeyand was told about your site and trip by a wonderful marina manager Dan McClanahan. We hope to loop one day too! Keep blogging!
Nice to meet you. Dan is great! We enjoyed working with him to get our boat.
This blog is very nice. I don’t remember the mapping being there, it is a great addition. Glad you enjoyed the trip, because I sure did.
