Charleston, SC

Charleston, SC

Beaufort, SC was awesome. We wished we had planned to stay an extra night. But our goal was Charleston, so we got another early start and headed north. We had a fairly uneventful trip. There were lots of dolphins accompanying us on our route. I think this was the most dolphins we have seen on any day. At one point they were jumping in front of our bow. It was really fun to watch.

The boat traffic definitely picked up the closer we got to Charleston, and when we got into the harbor in the middle of the afternoon it was pretty choppy. We rounded the tip of Battery Park and were guided to the marina by the dockmaster where we tied up to a long floating face dock just inside the marina.

There was constant wave action in the marina while we were there, possibly due to the wind direction. It is the most motion we have seen while being securely tied to a dock.  So we spent most of our time walking the city. Being Fourth of July, there were lots of decorations, and plenty of things to see.

We enjoyed the city a lot. We also enjoyed meeting several other looper boats here for what seemed like an unofficial AGLCA gathering. Oh, and there were fireworks.
