Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay

The Hudson River has quite a strong current, so it is important to time your trip so you are traveling with the current instead of against it. So we departed our slip at Liberty Landing at about 9am. Once again we were dodging ferries, but they were soon behind us as we traveled past the George Washington Bridge and up the State of New York.

We were only going about 30 miles so we arrived at Half Moon Bay around 1pm. It was quite windy when we arrived and the wind caused us to have a rolly and bumpy afternoon at the dock while I tried to get work done. So we took a walk and discovered a cool 9/11 memorial made into a sundial that pointed to plaques representing the major events that happened on that fateful day.

We also found a grocery store for some provisions. By the time we got back to the boat the wind had died down enough that we were able to settle down for the evening.
