Trenton
We arrived in Trenton around Noon and immediately liked the marina. The dockhands were professional and eager to help as we tied up to our assigned slip. The floating docks were modern and in excellent shape. There was key-card security access to the docks as well.
When I went in to pay for the night I was given the tour of the facilities. There were at least a dozen private bathroom/shower pods in the climate controlled building. There was a complimentary laundry with multiple machines. And the boaters lounge was beautiful. We enjoyed all the well manicured landscaping. We went to lunch and when we returned we decided to extend our stay to a second night. This would give us a chance to rest a bit and also I wanted to go see the Canadian Air Force Museum.
Tuesday we walked to the Canadian Air Force Museum. It was about a 45 minute walk from the marina. The museum was very nice with a good collection of Canadian versions of both US and British aircraft. In addition to the indoor displays they also maintained an outdoor collection. It was sort of like a city park with airplanes.
After the museum we walked back to town and tried Tomasso’s Italian Grille. We shared a pizza and wondered if it is necessary to order “Canadian Bacon” in Canada, or if it is just “Bacon”. So we asked the waitress and she said they call it Back Bacon. The pizza was good and so was the dessert, so we decided we needed a little more exercise.
We decided to walk to Lock #1. It was about an hour walk from the restaurant and it was raining a bit the whole way. We arrived at the lock and purchased our lock pass and mooring pass so we didn’t have to take care of that when we arrived for locking the next day. We then walked back to the marina and stopped for groceries. So as it turned out we did quite a bit of walking and not much resting.
