Frying Pan Bay
Today we took a ride on the Big Chute Marine Railway. The idea is that there are two bodies of water separated by some land. They built a boat carrier that runs on rails to carry boats from one body of water to the other. It is pretty cool and definitely unusual.
The ride was great because of the view. We rode on the bow of our boat for the whole trip, which lasted less than 10 minutes. Before we knew it we were being set back into the water on the other side.
The next lock was the final lock of the Trent/Severn waterway, located at Port Severn. This is a “normal” lock, but when exiting the lock we were in the Georgian Bay. Before locking through I went into the office and purchased a set of navigation charts for the Georgian Bay just in case.
We headed for Beausoleil Island, which is a Canadian National Park in the Georgian Bay. We were heading for a spot called Frying Pan Bay which is a very protected spot on the northwest end of the park. We anchored in the bay for the first time on this trip.
