Grand Haven

Grand Haven

We were blessed with another really nice day on the lake, so we made the trip down the coast of Michigan to the city of Grand Haven. The first stop was at the North Shore Marina to top off the Diesel tanks, and then we headed to our reserved slip at the municipal marina.

Mostly calm water
There were lots of boats out this morning

I had been to Grand Haven over 30 years ago to see the nightly light show, and I remember there were boats along the waterfront. On this day we were one of those boats on the waterfront, and it was awesome. There was a lot of foot traffic along the waterfront. Our slip was directly across from the local farmers market, and we were able to do a bit of provisioning.

There is a big coast guard facility here

I still have a lot of relatives that live in the Grand Rapids area, so we had a constant stream of family visitors all day at the boat. This was great because in many cases we hadn’t seen each-other in many years. We spent most of the afternoon giving boat tours and talking about our trip. The timing was good too because it was a weekend. So thanks to all of y’all for coming out to visit us and making our day very special!

At the end of the day we went to watch the water fountain light show. The fountain was choreographed to Disney music, so we felt right at home.
